How we research, source and review our dream interpretation content
Our Research
All dream interpretation content on Ethyria is grounded in established psychological schools of thought. We build on the dream theory of Sigmund Freud, the archetype framework of Carl Gustav Jung, transpersonal psychology and biosynchronous analysis.
Every symbol entry is developed from these reference frameworks and translated into the respective language. We account for cultural differences in symbolism and clearly label alternative interpretations as such.
Sources and Citations
Our interpretations reference documented academic literature and empirical research. Key sources include:
- · Sigmund Freud The Interpretation of Dreams (1899): manifest vs. latent, condensation, displacement
- · Carl Gustav Jung Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious (1936): Shadow, Anima, Self
- · Ernest Hartmann (Boston University) Dreams and Nightmares (1995): emotional processing
- · Allan Hobson (Harvard Medical School) Activation-Synthesis Model
- · Matthew Walker (UC Berkeley) Why We Sleep (2017): REM sleep and emotional processing
Fact-Checking Process
Every new piece of content goes through a multi-stage review. After research, an independent reviewer checks the factual accuracy. Only then is the entry published.
Changes to existing interpretations are versioned and stamped with a modification date so the history of every entry stays traceable.
AI Transparency
Research supported by AI, facts manually reviewed by our editorial team. We use AI tools to speed up literature research and translations. The human editorial team carries the academic and editorial responsibility.
